The Andeler Dom

The Protestant church in Andel , built between 1717 and 1719 , today a district of Bernkastel-Kues, popularly also called Andeler Dom, is a larger chapel.

history

Even if today a district of Bernkastel-Kues , Andel did not belong to the Catholic, Trier Bernkastel, but to the County of Veldenz and thus to this day to the Lutheran evangelical parish of Mülheim an der Mosel . Up to the beginning of the 19th century (around 1830), Andel had around 170 inhabitants in 42 houses, of which 130 were Lutheran and 40 were Catholic. When the church was rebuilt, the core of the tower of the previous building was included. Today the Simultaneum is rarely used by the Catholic community of Bernkastel-Kues.

organ

The small organ without pedal from 1972 comes from the Oberlinger organ workshop .

Furnishing

From 1965 to 1966, the interior was redesigned by the Morbach sculptor Klaus Rothe. The chapel received a new pulpit , a new altar table and a new baptismal font .

Bells

The bells were cast by the Luxembourg master Clas von Enen in 1476 and 1488 and are among the oldest in the Middle Moselle.

use

In the church there is a service of the evangelical parish of Mülheim about every second Sunday and public holiday. In addition to those in Mülheim and Andel, another simultaneous church in Brauneberg serves the approximately 950 parishioners (plus approximately 450 from the diaspora ) . Andel itself has about 800 mostly Protestant residents. Services are typically at 10:30 a.m., sometimes at a different time. The chapel may continue to be used by the Catholic Church for official acts.
