history
The club has had a women's soccer team since the 2007/08 season . It was founded on January 21, 2007 by the board of directors of FC Twente. This is entitled to take part in the Eredivisie for women . The first coach was Mary Kok-Willemsen , who had previously coached amateur women's clubs and youth teams from other clubs.
On August 29, 2007, the women of FC Twente opened the women 's league in front of a home crowd in De Grolsch Veste . Marieke van Ottelé was the first goal scorer in the league and for Twente . With just 75 seconds after kick-off, it was also the fastest ever goal in the women's Eredivisie. The game against SC Heerenveen was lost 2: 3. At the end of the season, the Enschede player Sylvia Smit , also the team's best attacker, was honored as the second best player of the season. With seven wins, three draws and ten defeats, the team was fifth of six teams. The season went better in the battle for the KNVB Cup . After the team only had to enter the competition in the second round, four wins were enough to make it into the final of the cup. There they faced FC Utrecht on May 24, 2008 . With one goal each from Janneke Bijl , Carola Winter and Sylvia Smit, the team won 3-1. The Utrecht's only goal scorer was Lesley Landweer , who was able to score to equalize. The club's first success was already perfect in the first year after the introduction of the women's team. The following season in the league was similar. Again it was only enough for fifth place. Only the SC Heerenveen and the new team from Roda JC Kerkrade remained behind the Twenter women. The club's best attacker was Marlous Pieëte with 12 goals. That left her two goals behind top scorer Sylvia Smit, who moved from Enschede to Heerenveen before the season. You had to retire from the KNVB Cup due to the annual Koninginnedag . This also affected all other first division teams. A defense of the title was therefore not possible. In 2009/10 , the club started the new season badly with just one win from their first five games. With Suzanne de Kort from the withdrawn club Roda JC Kerkrade came a new striker, who should become important during the season. In addition, players from the youth teams were ordered to the first division team, where they should come to opportunities during the course of the season. In contrast to the league, it was again the cup competition that made the players celebrate. So far, they have made it to the semi-finals.

Stadion
FC Twente plays its home games in De Grolsch Veste . The stadium, built in 1998 west of the city on the railway line to Hengelo , was named after a tour operator after the rights to the name were sold. As a sponsor, this company had borne part of the construction costs of the stadium. After the expansion from 13,500 to around 24,000 seats in summer 2008, the stadium was renamed and the Grolsch brewery is now the namesake of De Grolsch Veste.
