Fabián Coito , full name Fabián Coito Machado , (born March 3, 1967 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player and current coach.

Career

Player career

The 1.79 meter tall defensive player Coito was at the beginning of his career from his first division debut from 1982 to 1992 in the ranks of the Montevideo Wanderers in the Primera División . In 1992 he moved first to the first division club Atlético Cerro . In the course of that year, a career station in Peru near San Agustín was recorded for him. In 1993 he joined the Chilean club Osorno . In 1994 and 1995 he continued his career in Honduras with CD Olimpia . In Torneo Invierno 1996 he ran eight times on the Mexican club CF Pachuca in the Primera División , but remained without a personal goal.

Coaching

Central Español was the first professional club he coached from 2004 to 2005. In May 2007 he began his work as the junior national coach of Uruguay. Initially, he was responsible for the U-15s until 2009 and finished second with them at the U-15 South American Championships 2007 in Brazil . At the U-15 South American Championship in Bolivia in 2009 , his team finished the tournament in fourth place. The Uruguayan U-15 played a total of 37 international matches under his leadership. Uruguay won 24 games, drew twice and lost eleven times. From 2009 to 2014 he coached the Uruguayan U-17s . In 2011 he finished second with the team in both the U-17 South American Championship and the U-17 World Championship . Two years later followed a fourth place at the U-17 South American Championship in 2013 and an eighth place in the U-17 World Championship participation that year . After 95 international U-17 matches under his aegis (43 wins, 23 draws, 29 defeats), he has been the U-20's coach since March 2014 . His coaching team at the U-20 has since consisted of assistant coach Gustavo Ferreyra , goalkeeping coach Carlos Nicola and Sebastián Urrutia as a so-called “preparador físico”. At the U-20 South American Championships in 2015 , he took 3rd place with the team and thus qualified for the U-20 World Cup in 2015 . On February 27, 2015, a committee consisting of national coach Tabárez, the sports director of the AUF , Eduardo Belza , and Roberto Pastoriza decided that Coito would also be given responsibility for the U-22s at the upcoming Pan American Games 2015 .
