from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The festival L'art pour l'Aar is an international festival for contemporary music in the canton of Bern . Since 2007 it has been an associated member of the International Society for New Music .

history

The L'art pour l'Aar festival dates back to 2002, with the first festival taking place in 2003. The name is explained by the “constant interplay of color and dynamism” of the Aare , the longest river that runs entirely within Switzerland. The founding members included the Bern composers Jean-Luc Darbellay , Hans Eugen Frischknecht , Ursula Gut and Alfred Schweizer (no longer represented on the committee). For a time the conductor Pierre-Alain Monot was part of the committee; the flautists and composers Pierre-André Bovey and Markus Hofer joined them later.

Swiss musicians such as the Basel Chamber Orchestra , the Biel Symphony Orchestra , the Nouvel Ensemble Contemporain , the Ensemble Proton Bern and the Camerata Bern as well as guest ensembles from all over Europe have performed, including the Ensemble Phorminx , the Ensemble Sortisatio , the Leipzig Horn Quartet and the Ensemble Horizonte and the Leipzig drum ensemble from Germany. The Ensemble Aldubàran (Faroe Islands), the Ensemble vocal d'Erguël (Turkey), the Luxembourg Sinfonietta (Luxembourg) and the Ensemble Accroche Note (Strasbourg) have also been won. Guitarist Reinbert Evers (Münster), drummer Thierry Mroglio (Paris) and pianists Ancuza Aprodu and Roumen Kroumov (Bulgaria) performed as soloists .

In addition to symposia and composer portraits held u. a. one cooperated with the Swiss Music Research Society .

The venues are in the canton of Bern, for example in Bern , Biel / Bienne and Meiringen , as well as in Neuchâtel , Perrefitte , Thun and Zurich .
