Florian Zenker (* 1972 ) is a German ( jazz ) guitarist and composer .

Life

He studied jazz guitar at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (Master's degree in 2000), lived and worked in Oslo (Norway) for several years and moved to Cologne in 2004 .

Florian Zenker gave concerts with various groups and projects all over Europe, Canada and Colombia and performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival , among others . He has worked with Oene van Geel , Afra Mussawisade , Mats Eilertsen , Wolfert Brederode , Eric Vloeimans , Eric Ineke , Jeroen van Vliet , Kinan Azmeh , Jarle Vespestad , Lydia van Dam , Tony Overwater and Gregor Hübner .

As a composer he wrote most of the repertoire of Florian Zenker / Christiankap 4tet and contributed several compositions a. a. CD productions by Wolfert Brederode's band project Nimbus and Christof May's group Maygus . He also created a large part of the music of his new group tiny tribe .

He also composed music for short films and documentaries and plays as well as a number of Dutch avant - silent films of the years 1928 to 1934. In 2006 he wrote the music for his first feature film. He also created the music for several television programs as well as documentaries and short films in Norway as well as jingles for radio stations in Germany, the Netherlands and Austria, and worked as a studio guitarist on film scores.

In addition to the electric jazz guitar , Zenker also uses guitar-related instruments such as a specially made 11-string cister and numerous effects devices .
