The Aéroport Calvi-Sainte Catherine is located 8 km southeast of the Corsican city ​​of Calvi . Calvi is the smallest of the four Corsican airports after Bastia , Ajaccio and Figari .

Because of its location in a mountain valley, the airport is mainly approached from the north by sea. Landing approaches similar to those at the former Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong are also carried out, in which the aircraft flies past the airport from the north, makes a 180 ° turn in the mountain valley in front of the mountain Capu Porcarellu and finally approaches from the south.

Approximately 321,000 passengers used the airport in 2016, an increase of 1.3% compared to the previous year. The freight traffic was approx. 7000 kg.

In the summer of 2015, Air France and its subsidiary Calvi flew non-stop from Geneva , Lille , Lyon , Marseille , Metz , Nantes , Nice , Paris , Strasbourg and Toulouse .

Air Berlin and its Austrian subsidiary Niki flew to Calvi in 2015 from Düsseldorf , Memmingen , Salzburg and Vienna .

The German Germanwings serves Calvi from Cologne / Bonn Airport , the Swiss airlines Etihad Regional and Swiss from Geneva, and Helvetic Airways from Bern and Zurich .

The airport cannot be reached by public transport. It has taxi stands and rental car stations.

Incidents

• On February 8, 1965, the landing gear of an Airnautic Vickers Viking 1B (registration number F-BJEQ ) collapsed when taking off from Calvi Airport. The machine was irreparably damaged, ten people on board survived.
