The airport Lannion-Côte de Granit ( IATA code LAI , ICAO code LFRO ), also known as Airport Lannion-Servel , located in the town of Lannion in the district Servel in French Côtes-d'Armor , Brittany . The airport is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. With its 1000 m² terminal, it is designed for a passenger capacity of 70,000. Taxis are available at the airport for onward travel. Rental car companies are also based at the airport.

history

The airfield was a base of the German Air Force during the Second World War . The first users between July and December 1940 were the Ju 87B / R of Group II of Sturzkampfgeschwader 2 (II./SG 2).

In addition, from the beginning of August 1940 to December 1941, the coastal aviation group 606 , initially equipped with the Do 17Z and later with the Ju 88A , was stationed here.

From November 1941 the 3rd squadron of the reconnaissance group 123 (3rd (F) / 123), which mainly also used the Ju 88, was added, it was here until August 1942.

Incidents

From 1971 to November 2018 there was a total loss of aircraft at Lannion-Servel Airport and in the vicinity. Two people were killed.

  • On 5 December 1971, a collided north 262A-25 of the Rousseau Aviation ( aircraft marks F-BNMO ) during the approach to the airport Lannion with a pine tree. A 1.90 meter long piece of a wing broke off. After a flight of 1,800 meters, the machine, which was on a transfer flight, crashed about two kilometers west of the airport. Two of the three inmates were killed.
