The Beziers airport ( IATA code BZR , ICAO code LFMU , fr. Aéroport Béziers Cap d'Agde en Languedoc ) is the airport of the French town of Beziers . It is located in Vias in the Hérault department .

history

Since the airport previously only had a short runway (1820 m × 30 m), the existing runway was expanded from November 2006 to February 2007. The airport wanted to attract low-cost airlines , which it succeeded in doing with Ryanair . Daily direct flights to Paris Orly (or Paris Beauvais) and seasonal flights to Bastia were opened. In early 2008, Bristol was also added to the flight plan. On March 24, 2008, Ryanair announced a new connection between London Stansted in the summer months, with the option, if the London-Stansted route to Beziers would be profitable, to offer additional destinations. However, the route to and from London Stansted was changed to 2 flights per week, but was changed to London Luton, which was first operated in October 2008. By 2014, Ryanair had significantly expanded its offer with routes to and from Paris (Beauvais)BristolEdinburghLondon LutonManchester , Stockholm Skavsta , Oslo Rygge , Weeze and Bremen. Oslo Rygge and Bremen were removed from the route network in 2015, but London Stansted Béziers was added from July 2017.

In the meantime, Flybe has also operated the routes to and from Belfast City, Edinburgh, Glasgow Intl., Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle, Southampton, Guernsey, Jeresey, Isle of Man and Dublin. However, these were gradually dismantled and on May 1, 2014 the last connection from Southampton was also terminated.

At the beginning of 2016 Cityjet announced flights between Bastia and Béziers, but these were closed again before the end of 2016.
