The Cannes - Mandelieu Airport ( French Aéroport de Cannes - Mandelieu ), IATA code CEQ , ICAO code LFMD , is a French airport in the department of Alpes-Maritimes in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur , about six kilometers west of Cannes .

history

The first flight on the airfield in Cannes-Mandelieu took place in 1905. In 1908 the Aéroclub de Cannes was founded, which operated flights there. The larger airfield was put into operation in 1928. The airport also bears the name of the neighboring city of Cannes Mandelieu-la-Napoule on whose territory it is also located.

Except in emergencies in which the safety of the aircraft is likely to be impaired, the use of the airfield is reserved for general aviation and especially for tourism.
The use of the airfield is prohibited
