Ethiopia took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in the US metropolis of Atlanta with 18 athletes, ten men and eight women, in ten competitions in two sports.
It was the eighth time the African state had taken part in the Summer Olympics since 1956 .
Flag bearer
Athlete Fita Bayisa carried the flag of Ethiopia during the opening ceremony on July 19, 1996 at the Centennial Olympic Stadium .
Medals
With two gained two gold and a bronze medal, the Ethiopian team finished 34th in the medals table .
