The airport Zakynthos "Dionysios Solomos" (Engl. Zakynthos International Airport "D. Solomos" , Greek name Kratikos Aerolimenas Zakynthou "Dionysios Solomos" ) is the international airport of the Greek island of Zakynthos and is located southwest of the island's capital, Zakynthos , northeast of the town of Laganas and north the village of Kalamaki. The airport was named after the Zakynthian-born poet Dionysios Solomos . It serves both national and international air traffic. This makes it an “Airport of Entry”. The airport is only used for civil aviation. There is a strict no-night flight ban at the airport.

Terminal and airfield

In 1981 a new terminal was built due to the high number of passengers. Another new building to expand capacity followed. There are seven parking spaces for aircraft on the apron. The airport has only one runway (Runway 16/34, orientation north-north-west-south-south-east). It does not have taxiways that run parallel to the runway. In the 21st century, no air cargo was handled at Zakynthos Airport; the airport is therefore used exclusively for passenger transport.
