The Santorini airport ( Greek Κρατικός Αερολιμένας Σαντορίνης Kratikos Aerolimenas Santorini ) is a Greek airport in the southeast of the Cycladic island of Santorini , near the coast at Monolithos and Kamari , about five kilometers from the main town of Fira removed. Thira is usually recorded as the destination in air traffic .
The airport is used by the military and, since 1972, also for civilian purposes. It has an illuminated apron with parking space for six aircraft and a terminal building built in 1989. The airport building houses travel agencies, small restaurants, car rentals and airline offices. There is also the option of tax-free shopping.
Next to the active runway 16L / 34R is the runway 16R / 34L to the west, which is closed and only used as a taxiway.
The bus company KTEL Thira ( ΚΤΕΛ Θήρας ) has integrated the airport into its line network. There are regular connections to the larger towns.
