The new Paros Airport (2016) ( English Paros National Airport , Greek Κρατικός Αερολιμένας Πάρου Kratikos Aerolimenas Parou ) is an airport on the island of Paros . It is located on the west coast of the island and replaces the old Paros Airport , which opened in 1982 and is just under 2 kilometers southeast of it .

The airport is served by Olympic Air , which has been a subsidiary of Aegean Airlines since 2013 , within the framework of the mandatory routes (PSO - Public Service Obligation). With the opening of the airport on July 25, 2016, the range of flights to Paros was expanded.

Location and transport links

Reception building, 2018

The new airport is located about 8 kilometers southwest of the port city of Parikia on Paros.

A bus line from Parikia (about 30 minutes travel time), in summer also from Naoussa, operates depending on the departure and arrival times of the flights. The airport can also be reached by car and taxi.

history

The old airport from 1982 (Panteleou Paros Airport) only had a short runway, initially 710 meters, later 800 meters. Therefore it could only be approached by smaller commercial aircraft.

In 2016, the new airport was opened about 2 kilometers northwest of it, which, with a runway length of 1,400 meters, can also be used by larger types of aircraft.
