Fluttendorf is a place and village in western Styria and a cadastral community of the market town of Mooskirchen in the Voitsberg district , Styria . The place was an independent municipality from 1850 to 1968.

Place name and geography

The part of the name Flutten derives from a Slavic head of the family or mayor named Blagota. The old Slavic initial b- of the name became an f- when it was Germanized . The place name means something like village of Blagota .

Fluttendorf is located in the southern and eastern part of the market town of Mooskirchen, southeast of the main town of Mooskirchen, south of the south A 2 motorway , on both sides of the Kniezenbergbach and the surrounding slopes. In the northwest, Fluttendorf borders on the cadastral community of Mooskirchen, with the southern motorway marking the course of the border for the most part. In the north, the municipality of Söding-Sankt Johann and the cadastral municipality of Großsöding border Fluttendorf, with the Kainach marking the border in places, but Fluttendorf is also partly on the northern bank of the Kainach. In the northeast, the Kainach also forms the border to the market town of Lieboch . To the east lies Neudorf bei Mooskirchen and in the southeast closes casting mountain on. The municipality of Sankt Stefan ob Stainz with the two cadastral municipalities of Pirkhof and Zirknitz is located in the south. In the east, the Schönwiesenbach forms the border with Stögersdorf . The state road L340 between Mooskirchen and Lannach and the state road L667 that branches off from it lead through Fluttendorf to Sankt Stefan ob Stainz.

Fluttendorf also includes the locality and Rotte Kniezenberg as well as the single site Suppi and the Treitlerwirt inn . The so-called Schönwald is also located in Fluttendorf.

history

Fluttendorf emerged in the 10th century, i.e. the late early Middle Ages, as a Bavarian settlement. In the beginning it was a single-line, partly also a two-line street village with properties adjoining the courtyards, which was expanded from the late Middle Ages onwards through the division of property and the establishment of châteaux . The first documentary mention was made in 1197 when Otto de Flagutendorf was named. Further mentions were made in 1212 as Flaguttendorf , in 1450 as Flahutendorf and Flabutendorf and finally in 1591 as Fluttendorff . In 1212 Reinhard von Mureck compensated the Rein monastery with goods in Fluttendorf. In the years 1348 and 1349 Fluttendorf was struck by the plague . A landlord in Fluttendorf is mentioned as early as 1667.

The residents of Fluttendorf belonged to various manors until 1848, such as the Greißenegg , Lankowitz , Lannach and Mooskirchen, Gilgenbichl and Fladersbach offices of the Winterhof rule and the Hötschdorf office of the Rohrbach rule . The rule Altenburg had a separately designated office Fluttendorf until 1746. Furthermore, some of the residents also belonged to the Mooskirchen office of the Bishop's Court of Graz , which existed from 1591 to 1685 . From 1709 to 1757 the Großsöding rule had minor rights in Fluttendorf. From the 15th century to 1663 some subjects also belonged to the Ungerhof office of the Rein monastery. The Zehentrechte lay with the dominions Germany Berg , Greißenegg and Lannach and the March food was delivered to the March fodder office in Graz. From the 16th to the 18th century, the regional court and judicial services were carried out from the rule of Oberwildon . From 1807, Fluttendorf belonged to the advertising district of the Groß-Söding estate, before that it was probably part of the advertising district of the Lannach estate.

Around 1840 there was an abundant field crop and viticulture in Fluttendorf and the Weber teasel was also grown, the seeds of which were delivered to cloth factories in Bohemia and Moravia . At that time there was also an innkeeper, a miller, two blacksmiths, two tailors, a shoemaker and a weaver in the village. In 1850 was the constitution of the independent community Fluttendorf established free communities. During the Crimean War , parts of the 6th field artillery regiment and the 8th cavalry battalion were stationed in Fluttendorf in the summer of 1855. The morality in the place suffered so badly that the troops were withdrawn in July 1855. In June 1915, part of the reserve battalion of the kuk infantry regiment of the Landwehr Pola No. 5 was quartered in Fluttendorf. In 1916 prisoners of war were moved between Fluttendorf, Kleinsöding and Großsöding . In February 1922 the place was electrified by the Mooskirchen electricity company . In the same year, two floods caused severe damage to the buildings and to the municipal road in Fluttendorf. Another flood on July 4, 1944 silted up a large part of the fields.

On January 1, 1948, Neudorf near Mooskirchen was incorporated into Fluttendorf. On August 20, 1962, the Fluttendorf community cooling system was opened. On January 1, 1968, the municipality of Fluttendorf was merged with the market municipality of Mooskirchen.

Economy and Infrastructure

Fluttendorf is dominated by agriculture, with agriculture playing an important role due to the favorable climatic and geographical conditions. In the 19th century, wine and weaver teasel were also grown. Draxler Geflügel-Wild GmbH, founded in 1928 as Eier-Geflügel-Wild Erwin Draxler , is located in the village .

The local children attend schools in Mooskirchen. The Fluttendorf water cooperative was founded in 2005 to supply the locality with water.

Sights and buildings

The listed local chapel of Fluttendorf

One of the most important buildings in Fluttendorf is the local chapel, which was built between 1817 and 1828 and is a listed building . It was consecrated to Saint Bartholomew in 1830 and a Way of the Cross in the chapel was consecrated in 1861 . The two steel bells date from 1918. In 1959, a memorial plaque for the fallen of the place was attached to the chapel. A general renovation of the chapel took place in 2000. Every year on the Wednesday before Ascension Day there is a procession from the local chapel to Mooskirchen and back.

In Fluttendorf you can also find the Schmiedhieslkreuz, which was inaugurated on September 2, 1855 on the site of an old cross. An unnamed pillar shrine with an adjacent crucifix, erected in the 18th century, is located on the state road to Neudorf bei Mooskirchen . Its niche shows an image of Saints Mary and John. The 1.4 meter high crucifix could be the former fourth evangelist cross from the Mooskirchen parish church .
