Franz Bernhard Humer
Franz Bernhard Humer (born July 1, 1946 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian - Swiss manager . From 1998 to 2008 he was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and from 2001 to March 2014 partially at the same time Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche .
Life
Humer studied Jus at the University of Innsbruck and received his doctorate later in the program. After working as a manager in various countries at Schering-Plow and Glaxo , he became a member of the board of directors of the Swiss pharmaceuticals group Hoffmann-La Roche and head of the pharmaceuticals division in 1995. In 1996 he became Chief Operating Officer (COO), from 1998 to 2008 he was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and from 2001 (in succession to Fritz Gerber ) to March 2014, he was also President of the Board of Directors at times in a double mandate . In 2008 Severin Schwan became CEO and Humer concentrated on his chairmanship. In March 2014, Humer did not stand for re-election to the Board of Directors; he was followed by Christoph Franz . Humer works as a consultant for Roche.
Humer is married, has children and lives in Erlenbach in Zurich .
