Franz Grubhofer

Franz Grubhofer (born February 6, 1914 in Dornbirn ; † November 11, 1970 there ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From 1945 to 1962 Grubhofer represented the ÖVP in the Austrian National Council , from 1956 to 1961 he was State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of the Interior .

Franz Grubhofer was born on February 6, 1914 in the city of Dornbirn in Vorarlberg , where he grew up and attended elementary school. He then attended the Bundesrealschule Dornbirn for three years , where he was a member of the Catholic middle school association "Siegberg Dornbirn" during his school days. In 1928 he began his first job as a laborer and intern at a Dornbirn textile company. In 1934 he opened his own small business, but his license was revoked in 1938. He then worked as an employee at the Vorarlberg Agriculture Office.

After the Second World War and Austria's liberation from the National Socialists, Grubhofer was elected as a member of the ÖVP as a member of the National Council. From December 19, 1945 to December 14, 1962 he was a member of the parliamentary people's chamber. During this time he was also appointed deputy state party chairman and organizational officer of the ÖVP Vorarlberg and on June 29, 1956, he was appointed state secretary in the interior ministry in Julius Raab's federal government cabinet. He remained State Secretary until April 11, 1961. After his return to Vorarlberg, Grubhofer became chairman of the Vorarlberg non-profit housing and settlement company .
