Franz Josef Strohmeier (born March 5, 1978 in Straubing ) is a German actor and cabaret artist .

Life

Training and beginnings

Franz Josef Strohmeier completed a three-year training as a nurse at the Munich University Hospital in Großhadern after completing his technical diploma and community service (1997/98), which he did in a nursing home . Until he was admitted to drama school, he then worked as a nurse at the hospital of the Sisters of Mercy in Vienna .

From 2002 to April 2006 he studied acting at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen , which he completed with a diploma. During his training he already had engagements at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen / Globe Theater in Neuss (2003), at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf (season 2004/05, as Tobias von Rülp in Was ihr wollt ) and at the Schauspiel Essen (2006, as Erich, the original Fassbinder role, in Katzelmacher , director: Werner Wölbern ).

In 2003 he appeared at the "Theater Impuls" in his hometown Straubing as Mariedl in Werner Schwab's play The President . In 2004 he was awarded the City of Straubing's cultural promotion prize as “Best Young Artist”.

Theater engagements

From the 2006/07 season, Strohmeier was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Graz Schauspielhaus for four seasons until 2010 under the direction of Anna Badora . Strohmeier appeared there in various roles and from then on played a. a. as a partner of Peter Simonischek and Udo Samel . He had leading roles, u. a. as Freder in the stage version of Fritz Lang's Metropolis (2009/10 season, director: Claudia Bauer ) and in Daniel Glattauer's play Gut gegen Nordwind (2008–2010). In 2010 Strohmeier went to the Hessian State Theater Kassel , of which he was a permanent member of the ensemble until 2016. He played there u. a. Sascha in Der Marquis von Keith (2010, directed by Patrick Schlösser ), Max in Anatol (season 2012/13, directed by Marco Stormann), Pastor Hale in Witches' Hunt (2012–2014, directed by Patrick Schlösser), Camille in Floh im Ear by Georges Feydeau (season 2014/15, director: Markus Dietz), the Baron in Nachtasyl (season 2015/16, director: Markus Dietz), again the court marshal von Kalb (2015-2017, director: Markus Dietz) and the leading role of the accused pilot Lars Koch in Ferdinand von Schirach's play Terror (premiere: 2015/16 season, director: Patrick Schlösser).

At the Staatstheater Kassel he also worked with the directors Volker Schmalöer , Sonja Trebes , Schirin Khodadadian and Sebastian Schug . Strohmeier also performed his own solo evenings at the Staatstheater Kassel. a. with the piece The Double Bass , as well as the programs " Karl Valentin ", " Georg Queri ", " Bartsch - Child Murderer " and " Ludwig Thoma ".

After his return to Bavaria , Strohmeier has been working as a freelance actor since 2016; with play contracts he is still engaged as a guest at the Staatstheater Kassel. In 2016 he appeared at the Luisenburg Festival ; there he played u. a. the servant Jo in the Bavarian folk play The Bartered Grandfather , directed by the local director Michael Lerchenberg . In 2017 he was seen as a guest in the leading role Jesko Drescher in Thomas Melle's play Bilder von Uns at the Regensburg Theater .

cabaret

Strohmeier is the author, actor and presenter of his own late-night show for the theater, entitled “Strohmeiers”. The show, in which celebrities from culture and politics also took part live and in video recordings , is now regarded as a “cult” spectacle. Franz Josef Strohmeier performs regularly with the Süskind 's double bass as well as with his own literary and cabaret programs in German-speaking countries.

He also works as an acting coach and leads workshops for young actors and teenagers interested in theater.

Movie and TV

Strohmeier, who also works for film and television, stood u. a. in summer 2017 for the ZDF television film Ein Sommer im Allgäu from the ZDF Herzkino series “Ein Sommer in ...” in front of the camera; In a supporting role he played the sports sponsor Ralf Brucker, who terminated the advertising contract with the paraplegic former extreme climber ( Jennifer Ulrich ). It was first broadcast on ZDF in November 2017.

In February 2018, Strohmeier was seen in a leading role in the ZDF television series Über Land ; at the side of Franz Xaver Kroetz he played the young farmer Sepp Brenner, who takes up the fight against influential investors. In the 19th season of the ZDF series Die Rosenheim-Cops (2020) Strohmeier took on one of the episode roles as the energetic innkeeper Johann "Johnny" Kraus.

Private

Strohmeier, who speaks Austrian as well as his native Bavarian dialect, lives in Munich .
