Franz Peter Waiblinger

Franz Peter Waiblinger (born February 20, 1944 in Ingolstadt ; † October 27, 2007 ) was a German classical philologist and didactic specialist .

Life

Waiblinger studied Classical Philology and German Philology and received his doctorate in Munich in 1974. 1972 to 1980 he was a teacher, then until 1982 at the State Institute for School Education and Educational Research , 1982–1993 seminar leader for Latin at the Wittelsbacher Gymnasium Munich , finally from the winter semester 1993/1994 to September 30, 2005 at the Institute for Classical Philology of the University of Munich for Didactics of the ancient languages. He mainly worked as a didactic specialist, translator and editor of ancient texts. He also published travel guides and audio books about Rome, Venice and Florence and wrote articles for the Süddeutsche Zeitung .
