Fred Grasnick

Fred Grasnick (born September 30, 1930 in Berlin ; † January 4, 1996 there ) was a German actor , director and general manager .

Life

Fred Grasnick was born in Berlin as the son of a butcher and brewery driver. Here he went to a primary school, whose attendance he had to interrupt during World War II because he was evacuated to the Sudetengau , where he had to work in agriculture. After the end of the war he completed his school education and worked as a construction worker, draftsman and structural engineer. He broke off a degree in Slavic Studies and Psychology to take up acting studies with Helene Weigel and Bertolt Brecht . He became a master student of the Weigel, played at the Berliner Ensemble and at the Theater der 800 , went to Meiningen as an actor and director from 1960 to 1970 , where he was appointed senior director from 1965. In the 1970/71 season he worked as a senior director at the theater in Stralsund and was appointed director to Greifswald in 1971 , where he stayed until 1979. He then worked as a drama director in Meiningen until 1985 and then returned to the Stralsund Theater.

Fred Grasnick was married to the actress Helga "Helli" Ohnesorge.
