Friedrich Hauck (theologian)

Friedrich Hauck (born August 2, 1882 in Erlangen ; † February 9, 1954 there ) was a German Protestant theologian and university professor .

Life

Friedrich Hauck was the son of the theology professor Albert Hauck . His nephew was the historian Karl Hauck .

From 1893 to 1895 he attended the Higher Citizens' School and the St. Nikolai High School (today: Neue Nikolaischule Leipzig ), as well as the König-Albert-Gymnasium in Leipzig until 1902 .

After he had enrolled at the University of Leipzig , he began to study theology in 1902, which he finished in 1906 at the University of Erlangen .

In 1907 he became vicar in Sinnbronn and Gunzenhausen and in 1909 vicar in Munich-Schwabing . On May 2, 1913, he was appointed pastor in Unteraltertheim ; from 1914 to 1918 he was in military service during the First World War .

On February 5, 1922, he became a lecturer in religion at the teacher training institute in Schwabach and in the same year received a teaching position for exegetics at the University of Erlangen; on March 17, 1925, he became a teacher of religion at the Fridericianum High School in Erlangen and was a professor from November 26, 1926 to January 1949 .

On March 8, 1921 , he received his doctorate in Erlangen as Lic. Theol.

He completed his habilitation on February 28, 1927 at the University of Erlangen and on March 25, 1927, he became a private lecturer in New Testament exegesis. On December 23, 1939 he was appointed as a non-official extraordinary professor of the New Testament and on September 6, 1939 as a permanent professor.

After he was dismissed on February 6 on instructions from the military government , he was reinstated on October 22, 1948 with the appointment of private lecturer and adjunct professor of the New Testament.

Friedrich Hauck was married to Luisa (née Bock) since 1912; they had four children together.

  • On October 12, 1917, Friedrich Hauck received the Military Merit Order with Swords, Class IV on Ribbon.
  • On May 11, 1927, the University of Erlangen appointed him Dr. theol. hc
