Friedrich Mauerkircher
Friedrich Mauerkircher (* unknown; † 1485 ) was the 53rd Bishop of Passau from 1482 to 1485 .
Born the son of a Braunau citizen family was Mauerkircherstraße first chancellor at the court of Duke Georg the rich in Landshut and from 1446 then Passauer canon . He was elected bishop as early as 1480, but then had to take a back seat to Georg von Hessler , who was elected opposing bishop . As a result, there were disastrous clashes between the two, in which the Passau citizens were drawn. In 1482 the dispute culminated in a heavy bombardment of the Ilzstadt from the fortress Oberhaus .
After Hessler's death, Mauerkircher finally succeeded him as bishop. During his term of office, among other things, the completion of the Church of St. Salvator falls . Mauerkircher died just three years after taking office. He is buried in the parish church of Braunau .
