Christoph von Schachner (* around 1447 in Ried im Innkreis ; † January 3, 1500 in Passau ) was the 55th Bishop of Passau from 1490 to 1500 .

Schachner, son of a knightly family, was cathedral capitular from 1478 and was elected cathedral dean in 1485 . In this election, Wiguleus Fröschl von Marzoll was his opponent.

In 1490 he was elected the new Bishop of Passau. As such, he was able to reduce the debt mountain of his predecessors considerably through his thrift and prudent management. He established a collegiate monastery at the Salvatorkirche and the knight's hall of the Veste Oberhaus . The year " 1499 " indicating this is still visible from afar.

On January 3, 1500 von Schachner died suddenly (probably from a stroke). Just eleven days later, Wiguleus Fröschl von Marzoll was unanimously elected as his successor by the Passau Cathedral Chapter.

Schachner was buried in the prince-bishop's court chapel . His grave was opened in 1910 and the body was found dressed in Romanesque liturgical robes. These can now be seen in the Cathedral Treasury and Diocesan Museum ; Schachner's bones were transferred to the bishop's crypt in the cathedral in 1918 .
