Friedrich Joseph Wilhelm Lobenhoffer , since 1908 Knight of Lobenhoffer (born February 7, 1850 in Erding , † December 18, 1918 in Munich ) was a Bavarian general of the artillery .

Life

Friedrich was the son of a district judge. His older brother was the Bavarian Lieutenant General Karl von Lobenhoffer (1843-1901).

Military career

After visiting the cadet corps , Lobenhoffer joined the 3rd field artillery regiment "Queen Mother" of the Bavarian Army on August 9, 1868 as an officer candidate . He was promoted to sub-lieutenant in mid-May 1869 , rose to regimental adjutant in February 1873 and was transferred to the 1st foot artillery regiment "von Bothmer" as prime lieutenant on April 2, 1874 . In 1878/81 Lobenhoffer graduated from the War Academy , which made him qualified for the general staff, the higher adjutantage and the subject. On April 1, 1881, he was reassigned to his main regiment and from the beginning of December 1882 he was in command of the Army General Staff for two years. Lodenhoffer resigned on April 11, 1885 as captain and battery chief in the troop service and on March 10, 1887, under position à la suite, became a consultant for the inspection of the artillery and the train . After being used in the inspection of foot artillery , he was sent to the War Ministry on October 1, 1910, promoted to major , and transferred here at the end of March 1892. Lobenhoffer rose to lieutenant colonel at the beginning of November 1896 , shortly thereafter became department commander in the 1st field artillery regiment "Prince Regent Luitpold" and was promoted to regular staff officer in mid-August 1897. On April 20, 1898 he was appointed commander of the 2nd field artillery regiment "Horn" and at the end of October 1898 he was promoted to colonel . As such, from October 1, 1900, he was in command of the 3rd Field Artillery Brigade , which was renamed the 6th Field Artillery Brigade a year later as part of the organizational change . In this position, Lobenhoffer was promoted to major general on June 8, 1902, and on April 9, 1905, when he was promoted to lieutenant general, he was commander of the 3rd division in Landau in the Palatinate .

In this capacity, Prince Regent Luitpold awarded him the Grand Commander of the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown on March 11, 1908 . With the award the elevation to the personal nobility was connected and he was allowed to call himself “Ritter von Lobenhoffer” after the entry in the nobility register . Under awarding of the character as a general of artillery Lobenhoffer was on 20 December 1909 with the statutory board for disposition made.

During the First World War , Lobenhoffer was deputy Feldzeugmeister in Munich from December 21, 1915 to August 10, 1918 as a ZD officer .

family

Lobenhoffer married Karina Baur von Breitenfeld (* 1851) in Munich on May 11, 1875 . The marriage produced three children, including the major and commercial director Wilhelm Lobenhoffer (1876–1931).
