Friedrich August von Trotha (born May 23, 1812 in Hecklingen , † November 23, 1868 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general and Knight of Honor of the Order of St. John .

Life

Friedrich was a son of Friedrich Lebrecht von Trotha (1770-1833) and his wife Anna, née von Krosigk . His father was the ducal chamberlain of Anhalt , canon of Merseburg and lord of Hecklingen.

Military career

Trotha visited the Berlin Cadet House , was transferred to the 8th Cuirassier Regiment of the Prussian Army on July 29, 1829 and was promoted to second lieutenant in mid-July of the following year . In 1832/33 he was commanded to the teaching squadron, rose to prime lieutenant in mid-January 1846 and was commanded from the end of March to the beginning of August 1847 as a squadron leader for service with the 31st Landwehr Regiment in Sangerhausen . Under promotion to captain was on 14 December 1848 he was appointed squadron leader . As a major , Trotha became a regular staff officer in the 3rd Cuirassier Regiment on February 19, 1857 . During the mobilization on the occasion of the Sardinian War in 1859 he was the commander of the mobile 3rd heavy Landwehr-Reiter-Regiment. On May 12, 1860, Trotha was commanded as the leader of the 4th Combined Uhlan Regiment and appointed regimental commander on July 1, 1860 when the association was budgeted . He was promoted to colonel by mid-March 1863 and received the Order of the Red Eagle III in January 1864 on the occasion of the festival of the Order . Class with a bow. In position à la suite of his regiment, Trotha was appointed commander of Neisse on June 25, 1864 . In this position he received the character of major general on September 20, 1866 . Under awarding of the Crown II. Class was Trotha on May 11, 1867 the board of a regimental commander for 40 years of service to the disposition provided.
