This article covers the German national team at the European Football Championship 2000 in Belgium and the Netherlands .

qualification

The German team was trained by Erich Ribbeck after the quarter-finals at the 1998 World Cup and Berti Vogts' resignation in September 1998 . The first international match under Ribbeck was also the first European Championship qualifier. In Bursa , the German team lost 1-0 to Turkey through an own goal by the new goalkeeper Oliver Kahn. In the further course of qualification, the German team was able to improve its performance and defeat the other group opponents Moldova , Northern Ireland and Finland both at home and away. The game to win the group came on October 9, 1999 in Munich, Germany only needed a draw to finally qualify. With a 0-0, the team did the job lackluster.
