societies

From the age of six to twelve, Jeremies played for his hometown club Motor Görlitz and up to the age of 18 in the youth department of Dynamo Dresden . From the 1992/93 season he was a member of the professional squad of the club, which reached qualification for the Bundesliga due to second place in the last GDR league . In this, Jeremies made his debut on April 1, 1995 (24th matchday) in the 1: 3 defeat against TSV 1860 Munich ; he scored his first goal on May 6, 1995 (29th matchday) in a 1-1 draw at home against VfB Stuttgart . Jeremies was active in 10 games for the Dresdner Dynamos in the football club.

From 1995 to 1998 he played 78 times (two goals) for TSV 1860 Munich, for which he also appeared five times (one goal) in the DFB Cup and three times in the UEFA Cup competition. When he switched to league and city rivals FC Bayern Munich , for whom he was active from 1998 to 2006 , his greatest club successes came about. During this time he played 163 games (six goals), 55 Champions League (five goals), 27 DFB Cup (two goals) and six league cup games. In the 2001 Champions League semi-finals, he played only twelve days after knee surgery and scored the winning goal to 2-1 against Real Madrid, which secured Bayern Munich's entry into the final, but could not be used in the final due to a second knee surgery. Winning the Champions League for FC Bayern in the same year marks Jeremies' greatest success as a player. His contract expired at the end of the 2005/06 season. The then FCB trainer Felix Magath advocated the aging of the clearer. Due to ongoing injury problems, Jeremies retired in 2006 at the age of 32. He played his last Bundesliga game on May 13, 2006 (34th matchday) in a 3-3 draw at home against Borussia Dortmund . In his last season he played 13 Bundesliga games, most of them as a substitute.

National team

Jeremies played his first international game on October 7, 1995 in Solingen with the U-21 national team in the qualifier for the U-21 European Championship in 1996 , which they won 3-1 over the selection of Moldova. In his second mission he also scored his first goal; the game on October 10, 1995 in Cardiff he won with the national team with 5-1 goals against the Welsh selection. In the 7-0 success over the selection of Bulgaria on November 14, 1995 in Frankfurt (Oder), he was without a goal.

For the senior national team , he first came on November 15, 1997 in Düsseldorf in a test international match in the 3-0 win over South Africa . His only goal in 55 games was the 1-0 opening goal in the 2-0 victory against Finland in Nuremberg on March 31, 1999 - this goal won the election for Goal of the Month .

Jeremies participated in both the World Championships in 1998 (three games) and 2002 (seven games) and in the European Championships in 2000 (two games) and 2004 (one game, also his last).

On July 16, 2004, he announced his retirement as a national player. Shortly before the European Championships in 2000, Jeremies almost resigned after the national coach Erich Ribbeck had suspended him because of his statement that the national team was in a "miserable condition".

Further career

Through his former player agent Jürgen Milewski , Jeremies was employed by the marketer IMG . He is now working for the consulting firm T21 +, which advises footballers Leroy Sané and Martin Harnik , among others . Jens Jeremies is the founder of “The Youth Your Future”, an institution that helps children and young people in need and gives them long-term future prospects. Jens Jeremies lives with his family in Ottobrunn . On April 28, 2012 Die Toten Hosen played a “living room concert” in the party room of Jeremies as part of their Magical Mystery Tour , during which they toured almost 20 living rooms for the 30th band anniversary. According to the band, Jeremies, like 4,500 others, applied regularly. The reason was that, despite the song Bayern from the album Immortal, he had remained loyal to the Toten Hosen and was now demanding “compensation”.
