Football World Cup 2030

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The final round of the 24th men's soccer world championship (officially 2030 FIFA World Cup , official German spelling “FIFA World Cup 2030” ) is to take place in 2030 . So far, neither the organizing country nor an application deadline has been set. However, several associations have already expressed their interest in hosting the sporting event. According to FIFA regulations, a World Cup may not take place twice in a row in the same continental association, so applications from the CONCACAF association are blocked for 2030, as the World Cup in 2026 will take place in Canada , Mexico and the USA .

Announced applications

An application deadline has not yet been set. The following associations have officially confirmed their interest in hosting the event:

Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the soccer World Cup, there are considerations to host the World Cup in 2030 in Argentina and Uruguay, the host of the first World Cup in 1930 . Argentine FIFA Vice-President Julio Grondona confirmed that “ FIFA would like to celebrate this special event with a World Cup in Uruguay and Argentina. "The Uruguayan Sports Minister Hector Lescano wants to" celebrate the 100th anniversary of the World Cup ... in the place where the World Cup was born. "

On January 7, 2016, both countries confirmed a joint application for the 2030 World Cup. At the end of August 2017, the Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes announced that he would be joining an application.

In November 2017, Argentina and Uruguay announced that they would jointly compete to host the 2030 World Cup. There is no official request from Paraguay to participate in this.

On the occasion of the FIFA Congress prior to the 2018 World Cup , the South American Continental Association hosted a promotional event for the candidacies of Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay under the heading “2030 Juntos” (“2030 together”).

In February 2019, the Chilean Football Association announced that it wanted to join the existing trio of applicants from Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and Serbia

On November 3, 2018, the heads of government of Bulgaria and Greece , Boyko Borissow and Alexis Tsipras , officially announced the joint application of their countries together with Romania and Serbia for the 2030 World Cup. It would be the first ever football World Cup for all four nations.
