A chapel and a priest sent by the Gerode monastery have been in the village since 1308 . A church has existed since 1379, the location of which can no longer be precisely defined today, and several replicas probably followed, one of which could be from 1565. This is evidenced by a stone with the year 1565, which was found when the previous church was demolished in favor of the one that was to be built later. The current St. Pankratius Church was built in the neo-romantic style between 1873 and 1876, under the Hildesheim architect Anton Algermissen .

Since the middle of the 15th century the place was Duderstädter Ratsdorf. The replacement of the Duderstadt rights later lasted into the 20th century. During the Thirty Years' War , the Fuhrbacher had to provide considerable services, which were reflected in the delivery of materials and haulage services. After the reunification , Fuhrbach revitalized the neighborhood relationships with the places Jützenbach and Brehme . An "ID-free" border crossing in the Soolbachtal was set up months before the official opening of the border .

The Hildesheim architect Anton Algermissen was responsible for the neo-Romanesque church built between 1873 and 1876 . In 1956, the wooden belfry was replaced by a plastered tower from the Fuhrbach master builder Wilhelm Reimann. Predecessor buildings of the church can be dated to the years 1300, 1379 and 1565. On the outer walls, similar to the neo-Romanesque churches of the Unterereichsfeld, one can find the blind arch frieze supporting the eaves . Inside there are arcades on Doric columns with cube capitals and flat wooden beam ceilings. These ceilings have decorations in the form of floral beam decorations. Red waiting

The "Rote Warte", located at the highest point of Landesstrasse 531 between Fuhrbach and Duderstadt, originally represented part of the Duderstadt fortifications. The "Rode Warde", as it was called at the time, was first mentioned in the 14th century 1401 then took place in the Duderstädter account book. The fact that several buildings must have existed next to the tower at the "Rote Warte" is testified by a mention from 1511, which indicates a house "next to the observation tower". The end of the centuries-old forest service, which also included farming and an inn, ended in 1971 with the conclusion of a maintenance contract between the city of Duderstadt and the Northeim Forestry Office .

Economy and Infrastructure

Fuhrbach is known as the "Stone Setter Village". Nevertheless, the town's economy had to adapt to the new border situation in 1945, which led to the once widespread small-scale farming with numerous part-time businesses disappearing. In the meantime only two full farms can be found. From 1897 to 1967 the cigar factory was an important employer, especially for women, whereby home work also played a major role. The end of the migrant workers marked further turning points , as a number of craft businesses emerged in the construction and ancillary trades , as well as the gradual establishment of hiking opportunities that were effective for tourism, connected with reunification . Fuhrbach has been an aspiring place since the association was founded in 1973.
