Foundation of an association

Gümüşhanespor was founded in 1984 with the club colors red and white.

Most successful time so far

The 1997/98 season is considered the most successful season in the club's history. The club succeeded in advancing to the second division and at the same time advancing into the sixth round in the Turkish Cup. The team was eliminated there against the first division club Kocaelispor . After the 1998/99 season, the club rose again from the third division . In the following season, the direct return to the second division succeeded, in which the team from Gümüşhanespor could hold until the 2003/04 season.

Return to the 3rd division

After the 2003/04 season, the club was relegated to the fourth division and played in the TFF 3. Lig for ten years . By winning the playoff in the fourth division season 2012/13 , the club achieved indirect promotion to the TFF 2nd Lig .

The club's logo was dedicated to the honorary president Aydın Doğan : A falcon is shown on the logo , as Doğan means falcon in German .
