Gail Mancuso

Gail Susan Mancuso (born July 14, 1958 in Melrose Park , Illinois ), also known as Gail Mancuso Cordray , is an American television director and multiple Emmy winner, best known for series such as Roseanne , 30 Rock and Modern Family .

life and career

Mancuso grew up in Melrose Park, Illinois . She is married to Brian Downs and lives alternately in Valencia, California and River Forest (Illinois) .

Mancuso began working on television as a usher on various TV talk shows. She later became script supervisor for Comedy Among Brothers on the TV network Showtime . From 1989 she began directing the series Roseanne as an associate director . After one of the directors left the show in 1991, she got the chance to continue as one of the main directors of the series into the eighth season. She then re-directed other TV series such as Friends , Dharma & Greg and A Trio to Bite . In 2007 Mancuso began work on the CBS Sitcom Rules of Engagement . She also directed episodes of 30 Rock and Scrubs . In 2008 she received the Gracie Awards for her work in 30 Rock . In 2011 she was nominated for an Emmy for the episode Slow Down Your Neighbors of the series Modern Family . In 2012, she directed Roseanne Barr and John Goodman in the pilot episode of Downwardly Mobile , which NBC commissioned but ultimately discontinued. In 2013, she won an Emmy for directing the episode Arrested of Modern Family . In 2014 she won an Emmy again, this time for directing the Las Vegas episode of the Modern Family series.
