Georg Friedrich Wilhelm von Schoenermarck (born February 14, 1740 in Berlin , † March 28, 1807 in Breslau ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the 2nd artillery regiment "Breslau" .

Life

origin

Schoenermarck came from a middle-class family, the line of which begins around 1500 in Goslar . His parents were the Prussian privy councilor and director of the Upper War and Domain Chamber in Berlin, Johann Ernst Schoenermarck (1709–1781) and Elisabeth Sophia Anna Brandes (1710–1767) from Brunswick . His brother, the Prussian major and postmaster Karl Heinrich von Schoenermarck (1741–1799) was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility as early as 1768 .

Military career

Schoenermarck took up his service with the artillery in the Prussian army in 1756 . The following year he was a fireworker in the corps under Prince Heinrich in Saxony . In the Seven Years' War he took part in the sieges of Prague and Dresden . During the war in 1759 he was promoted to second lieutenant . It was in 1765 to first lieutenant , 1772 to staff captain and 1778 as captain promoted. He then took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . In 1786 he was ennobled to the hereditary Prussian nobility with the addition of the coat of arms, which his brother had already received in 1768 on the same occasion. Schoenermarck advanced to major in 1788. He took part in the first coalition , in particular the Battle of Pirmasens and the battles at Clermont, Grandpré and Hochheim. For his work in front of Clermont he received the order Pour le Mérite in 1792 , for Hochheim he was praised and for Pirmasens he was given recognition. In 1793 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and received a gift of 1000 thalers as gratitude for another outstanding service. In 1795 he was in command of the mounted artillery and was promoted to colonel . One year later Schoenermarck took over as commander of the 4th artillery regiment and in 1803 became chief of the 2nd artillery regiment. Before his 50th anniversary in service, on which the king expressly congratulated him and thanked him for his services, he was promoted to major general in 1804. During the fourth coalition he was seriously wounded near Auerstedt , from which he could not recover and as a result also died in his garrison . Schoenermarck was buried in the Reformed Church in Breslau.

Schoenermarck married Henriette Eleonore von Düringshofen (1754-1832) in Mirow in 1781 . The marriage had five children:
