Gerhart Lampa (born August 11, 1940 in Magdeburg ; † January 6, 2010 ) was a German painter and graphic artist.

Life

Lampa grew up in Rogätz . After finishing school, I completed a year of professional training as a lithographer in Leipzig , then as a commercial applicant in Magdeburg. In 1959 he did military service at the officers' school in Kamenz . From 1960 to 1963 he was a truck crane driver in Black Pump, where he worked as a set designer at the workers' theater. During this time he was in contact with Brigitte Reimann and the painters Dieter Dressler and Kurt Heinz Sieger , who had a formative influence on Gerhart Lampa.

After the death of the painter Günther Wendt (1908–1971), director of the  Senftenberg District Museum, Lampa took over this office until 1980. During this time he completed a distance learning course in history at the  Humboldt University in Berlin . Painting remained the center of his life. 

He had a collegial friendship with the sculptors  Jürgen von Woyski  and  Ernst Sauer , the painters Günther FriedrichGünther Rechn , Eckhard Böttger, Elke and Paul Böckelmann. 

Between 1980 and 1990 he was a freelance artist and artistic director of the International Energy Pillar. Over 100 art exhibitions testify to his active work. Since 1975 he was a member of the  Association of Visual Artists of the GDR . From 1985 to 1990 Lampa was elected head of the painters section and a member of the board. In 1982 he was a founding member of the working group for fine arts in the  Kulturbund  district of Cottbus . In 1987/88 Lampa took part in the Xth  Art Exhibition of the GDR  in Dresden. In 1990 Lampa was awarded the  Carl Blechen Prize,  1st class. From 1990 he was a member of the Brandenburg Association (BVBK) and the Federal Association of Visual Artists (BBK). From 1991 to 2002 he worked at the  theater "Neue Bühne" Senftenberg  as a painting room director.

Since 1994 Lampa has been involved in the implementation of various design projects with boulders in the outdoor area. For example, he designed the steel and stone sculpture “Stone Trap” and other stone settings for the Federal Horticultural Show in Cottbus in the course of relocating localities as a result of lignite mining. In 1999 he created the circle of life in the courtyard of the Niederlausitz Clinic in Senftenberg, a stone circle that represents the stages of life. The stone circle is now on Dorothea-Erxleben-Straße in the outer area of ​​the clinic.

Since 1995 he has been teaching design in the field of architecture / Cottbus at the Lausitz University of Applied Sciences . In 2002 he was appointed honorary professor at the FHS Senftenberg and taught the basics of design / screen design.

In 2010 Gerhart Lampa died after a long illness.
