Gina Presgott
Gina Presgott (born October 13, 1924 in Berlin ; † September 26, 1985 there ) was a German actress .
Life
Gina Presgott was born as the daughter of a stone setter and a stenographer in Berlin-Neukölln . The mother had to give up her job to take care of the child and from then on earned her living working from home as a seamstress. When she was three years old, her father passed away. With the help of her teacher, she was discovered by the radio at the age of eight and regularly performed there one or two times a week. She also dubbed several foreign films as a child. She also played some leading roles in the school theater. The family only had no money for attending drama school.
After completing secondary school and one year of commercial college, Gina Presgott began working as a stenographer for the radio. After 1945 she was employed as a school assistant for six months until the radio got back on track. The film soon came and the director Alfred Braun gave her one of the leading roles in Girls Behind Bars in 1949 . The Berliner Rundfunk gave her the opportunity to consolidate herself further with company and village evenings. Cabaret was now also the main focus. Via the Hajo cabaret , Die Laughenden Erben , die crank and the cabaret Kleine Bühne she came to the cabaret theater Distel , of which she was a founding member and to which she belonged for over six years. She also became known through the regular program "Seven to Ten - Sunday Morning in Spreeathen", in which she gave Frieda her voice. In addition, she is immortalized on various GDR record labels as a singer and speaker.
In the 1950 / 1960s Gina Presgott was married to the writer Lothar Kusche .
