Giovanni Moretti

Giovanni Moretti (born November 20, 1923 in Meina ; † October 16, 2018 ibid) was an Italian clergyman , Roman Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Giovanni Moretti was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Novara on June 28, 1947 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on September 9, 1971 as Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Thailand and Apostolic Delegate in Laos , Malaysia and Singapore and titular Archbishop pro hac vice of Vartana . The Apostolic Nuncio in Austria , Archbishop Opilio Rossi , donated him episcopal ordination on October 24 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Placido Maria Cambiaghi B , Bishop of Novara, and Robert Ratna Bamrungtrakul , Bishop of Ratchaburi .

On March 13, 1978 he was appointed Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Sudan and on July 10, 1984, Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Egypt . On July 15, 1989, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Belgium and Luxembourg . Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation on March 3, 1999.
