Gisela von Wysocki (* 1940 in Berlin ) is a German writer , especially a playwright and essayist.

Life

Gisela von Wysocki, daughter of Georg von Wysocki , who worked as a production manager at various record companies, a. a. for over three decades at Odeon , worked, initially studied musicology and piano in Berlin and mainly occupied himself with the compositions of Sergej Prokofjew , Claude Debussy and Alban Berg . After studying philosophy with Theodor W. Adorno in Frankfurt am Main , she completed her doctorate in philosophy with a thesis on the Viennese poet Peter Altenberg (“Potentials of Subjectivity in Irrationalistic Thinking”, first started with Adorno and later completed with Alfred Schmidt in Frankfurt and published by Hanser Verlag in 1979). She began as an essayist dealing primarily with outsiders of literary modernism. Later followed, in addition to literary criticism, plays and radio plays . She was also a lecturer in theater studies at the University of Giessen and the Free University of Berlin .

Gisela von Wysocki lives in Berlin. She is the sister of the composer and band leader Harald Banter (Gerd von Wysocki).

Awards

Gisela von Wysocki received the Theater Prize of the Frankfurt Authors ' Foundation in 1986 , the Radio Play Prize of the German Academy of Performing Arts in 1992 and 1993 and the Roswitha Prize of the City of Bad Gandersheim in 1996 , the special prize of the Kranichsteiner Literaturtage and in 2011 the Düsseldorf Literature Prize (awarded by the Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf ). In 2014 she received one of seventeen working grants for writers from the Berlin Senate's cultural administration and in 2017 the Heinrich Mann Prize for essay writing from the Berlin Academy of the Arts. In 2020 she will be awarded the honorary gift of the German Schiller Foundation.
