The Gmina Gołańcz is an urban-rural municipality in the powiat Wągrowiecki of the Greater Poland Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city ​​of the same name ( German Gollantsch ) with about 3300 inhabitants.

The municipality is located in the northeast of the voivodeship and borders in the east on the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship . The district town of Wągrowiec (Wongrowiec) is ten kilometers south, Poznan about 70 kilometers south, Bydgoszcz (Bromberg) 40 kilometers east. Neighboring municipalities in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship are the municipality of Kcynia in the east, in the Wielkopolska Region the municipalities of Wapno in the southeast, Damasławek and Wągrowiec in the south, Margonin and Szamocin in the west and Wyrzysk in the north.

In the municipality there are a number of ponds in the north and several lakes in the south, of which Jezioro Czeszewski is the largest.

The community has an area of ​​192 km², 76 percent of which is used for agriculture and 15 percent for forestry.

history

The current municipal area, interrupted by the German occupation in World War II (the city was named Schwertburg in 1942 ), belonged to the Poznan Voivodeship from 1919 to 1975, with different layouts. - The German minority was expelled after the World War .

From 1975 to 1998 the municipality was part of the Piła Voivodeship . The powiat was dissolved during this time. The rural community of Gołańcz was repeatedly converted into various gromadas after 1954 and newly created on January 1, 1973. City and rural municipality Gołańcz were merged in 1990/1991 to form an urban and rural municipality. This has belonged to the Greater Poland Voivodeship since 1999 and to the re-established Powiat Wągrowiecki.

The Gołańcz stop is currently the terminus of the railway line from Poznan , which no longer continues to the neighboring voivodeship. Panigródz station on this route is no longer served. There is another stop in Laskownica Mała. - The Gołańcz – Chodzież railway line is closed .
