The Gmina Kościelisko is a rural community in the powiat Tatrzański of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the tourist town of the same name with around 3900 inhabitants.
The municipality maintains a partnership with the Slovak city of Tvrdošín and is a member of the Twintown partnership project , which includes the municipalities of Durbuy (Belgium), Valga (Estonia), Osthammar (Sweden), Kobylnica (Poland) as well as Uusikaupunki and Orimattila (Finland).

The places of the municipality at the foot of the Tatras are strongly influenced by tourism. A hiking trail begins in Witów through Dolina Chochołowska via Polana Chochołowska to Chochołowska Hut .
The Butorowy Wierch ski area and several smaller lifts are located near Kościelisko . The Witów -Ski ski area is located in Witów .
