Gottfried Höllwarth (born February 10, 1945 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian sculptor .

Life

Höllwarth graduated from the HTL for mechanical engineering in Salzburg from 1959 to 1964 . From 1964 to 1970 he studied sculpture at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, his teacher included Hans Knesl . During his basic military service at the pioneer troop school in Klosterneuburg , he created the sculpture Pioneer with outboard motor in 1968 , which was located in the entrance area until the Magdeburg barracks were closed; subsequently it was set up in the Benedek barracks / military training area in Bruckneudorf . In the same year he married the painter Isolde Joham. In 1970 he founded a studio in Vienna, which he moved to Hainfeld in 1973 .

From 1978 to 1990 he held a lectureship for project implementation in urban space at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz, where he subsequently held a professorship for industrial stone design from 1998 to 2005 . In 1988/89 he was lecturer for plastic molding at the Technical University in Innsbruck . After almost 28 years of teaching, he devoted himself only to his own art, as it was an enormous burden for him to hold lectures in addition to his work and the worldwide exhibitions. In 1989 Höllwarth acquired an abandoned industrial facility in Rainfeld to work on large sculptures .

In the years from 1998 to 2006 Höllwarth undertook extensive study trips to Japan , Korea and China , where he dealt with East Asian art and also organized some exhibitions on site.

He currently runs the ARGE Höllwarth studio in Piaristengasse in Vienna-Josefstadt . His areas of activity include sculpture, interior design and architecture-related projects. Around his villa in Hainfeld , Höllwarth has created a sculpture park based on the pattern of a Japanese garden , which is home to six large sculptures on 2,000 square meters and is open to the public.
