Sadegh Saeed Goudarzi (born September 22, 1987 ) is an Iranian wrestler . He won at the Olympic Games 2012 in London a silver medal in free style at welterweight .

Career

Sadegh Goudarzi started wrestling in 1998 at the age of 11. He belongs to the Khaneh Koshti wrestling club and was or is trained by his father Saeed Goudarzi and Pejman Dorostkar, both former world class wrestlers . At a height of 1.72 meters, he starts in welterweight, the weight class up to 74 kg body weight. He's a student.

Sadegh Goudarzi won the Asian Championship as a junior in 2004 and 2006 and was second at the 2006 Junior World Championship in Guangzhou in the welterweight division behind Kachaber Chubeschty, who was then still starting for Russia .

With the seniors it was first used in 2009 at an international championship. He was Asian welterweight champion that year in Pattaya ahead of Abdulhakim Schapijew from Kazakhstan . At this year's World Championships in Herning / Denmark , he won his first senior medal with a bronze medal . On the way to this he defeated Gábor Hatos from Hungary , Seifaddin Osmanow from Kazakhstan and Cho Byung-kwan from South Korea . Then he lost in the semifinals against Denis Zargusch from Russia and won this bronze medal in the consolation round with a victory over Murad Gaidarow from Belarus .

In 2010 he won the silver medal at the World Championships in Moscow . He beat Suren Markosjan from Armenia , Abdulhakim Shapijew, Volodimir Sirotin, Ukraine and Ivan Fundora Zaldivar from Cuba . Only in the final did he lose just on points against Denis Zargusch. In the same year he won the Asian Games in Guangzhou ahead of Kazuyuki Nagashima from Japan , Dordschwaantschigiin Gombodordsch , Mongolia and Lee Yun-seok from South Korea.

In 2011 Sadegh Goudarzi was runner-up again in Istanbul . At this championship he defeated Augusto Minana, GBS, Alexandru Burca from Moldova , Murad Geidarow, Dawit Chutishvili from Georgia and Abdulhakim Schapijew. In the final he lost against the new US wrestler Jordan Burroughs on points.

In February 2012 he was again Asian champion in Gumi / South Korea. In the final he defeated his long-term rival Abdulhakim Schapijew. Well prepared, he went to the Olympic Games in London . He won there over Kiril Tersiew from Bulgaria , Soslan Tigijew from Uzbekistan and Gabor Hatos, but lost again in the final against Jordan Burroughs, which earned him the Olympic silver medal .
