Graveyard Shift is the fourth studio album by the American metalcore band Motionless in White from Scranton , Pennsylvania . It will be released on May 5, 2017 after a label change via Roadrunner Records .
History of origin
On July 22, 2015, on the sidelines of the Alternative Press Music Awards , the musicians announced that the first work on new song material for the follow-up to Reincarnate from 2014 had begun. At the beginning of the new year, on January 4th, 2016, Motionless in White announced that they would not renew their record contract with Fearless Records and were looking for a new record company. This was found in Roadrunner Records and the album was announced for 2017.
On June 22, 2016, the song 570 was offered as a free download. At the time it was not clear whether the piece could be found on the album. On October 31, 2016, the title of the album was announced. It's called the Graveyard Shift . At the end of January 2017, Eternally Yours was the second track on the album. The album itself was announced for May 5, 2017. Just a few weeks earlier, keyboardist Josh Balz announced that he was leaving the band after ten years. At the beginning of March the third single was released with LOUD (Fuck It) . In addition, the final album cover and the track list were announced and the pre-order phase started.
Album title and record cover
Chris Motionless, lead singer of the band, said of the title of the album that the group had always chosen titles that somehow represented the band and that this part was no exception.
"As you know from all three of our records, we always choose a title that's incredibly personal to the band, and this one is absolutely no exception."
With the announcement of the album title, the group started a competition for fans of the band worldwide, in which they can design a record cover for the album. The best cover will be rewarded with a cash prize of 2000 US dollars and become the official cover artwork for the album. 24 additional covers will be selected for application purposes and will also be rewarded with prize money. More than two thousand entries were submitted for the competition. At the beginning of March 2017, the artwork that was made by Crystal Johnson was also presented with the official announcement.
