The village of Großengsee is one of 24 districts in the municipality of Simmelsdorf in Middle Franconia .

history

The first mention of Großengsee was in 1342. Since 1574, the place was owned by the Nuremberg patrician family Tucher and thus belonged to the land area of ​​the imperial city of Nuremberg .

The Herrengsee manor

There are two architectural monuments in Großengsee. The former Herrengsee manor was built by the Dr. Lorenz Tucher Foundation under its administrator Georg V. Tucher (1579–1644) in 1630 to accommodate the Tucher Vogts, probably on the site of an older castle stable . Christoph Bonaventura I. Tucher, who as patron saint needed accommodation for the new pastor of St. Helena, had the manor house converted into a parsonage in 1672.
