history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1360. It was also known as Etzelbach or Esselbach.

Utzmannsbach manor

The core of the mansion goes back to the years 1374/75; From this time there is still a sheet pile ceiling in the once square, massive residential tower , which was referred to as a “stone house” in 1468 and was extended to the north by a two-storey extension in the 18th century. The tower was built to guard a hammer mill that belonged to the Lords of Wildenstein , who lent it to the Lords of Winterstein in the 14th century. In 1442 Philipp Hiltpoltsteiner zu Hüttenbach acquired the fortified hammer mill and enfeoffed the hammer master Contz Schwarzkopf with it. In 1446 the Augustinian monastery in Nuremberg acquired the feudal estate, but in 1450 sold it to the Nuremberg citizen and mining entrepreneur Linhard Groland the Elder . Ä., Who already owned the residence in nearby Diepoltsdorf . In 1468 a settlement had formed around a manor house. At times owned by the Peßler as heirs, the estate came back to Groland in 1511. Before 1530, the mining entrepreneur Stephan Kanler, who owned other hammer mills, acquired it from the Groland as a loan. He had the manor house rebuilt around 1535/36 and his son added a pleasure garden with a wall enclosure. From 1609 the family foundation of the Tucher von Simmelsdorf was feudal lord . Your rights went back to Sebald Tucher, who married Katharina Holzschuher, granddaughter of Katharina Groland, in 1609. The estate continued to be given as a loan until the Tucher sold it in 1792. In 1836 the Fürth mirror glass manufacturer Berlin founded a glass factory in the hammer factory. He removed the moat and the fortifications. Sold in 1913, the mansion became a youth hostel from 1958, which led to the loss of its original furnishings and structure. In 1979/80 it was renovated by the Alberti family, who have owned it ever since.

As a result of the administrative reforms in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , Utzmannsbach became a rural community with the second municipal edict with the additional districts Judenhof , Schindelrangen and Unterachtel .

On April 1, 1971, it was incorporated into the municipality of Diepoltsdorf as part of the municipal reform, and this was incorporated into Simmelsdorf on July 1, 1971.

In December 2005 Utzmannsbach had 47 inhabitants.
