Wildenfels is a district of the Central Franconian municipality of Simmelsdorf in the district of Nürnberger Land .

geography

The village is located in the north of the municipality, on a southern slope of the Alb plateau and just under 7 km north of Simmelsdorf. It is partially surrounded by the Haag forest area. The Wildenfels castle ruins are located above the village in the forest .

history

The builder of the castle belonging to the place, Dietrich III. von Wildenstein, is mentioned in 1313.

Due to the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , Wildenfels became an independent rural municipality with the second municipal edict with the further districts of Ittling and Ittlinger Mühle. Both became Ittling mit Mühle in the 19th century and finally Ittling after 1973. On January 1, 1978, the municipality was incorporated into the municipality of Simmelsdorf as part of the municipal reform.
