The Gymnasium Munich-Trudering (short: GT ) is a science, technology and language high school in the Trudering district of Munich , which opened in September 2013. It was designed as a model school that has flexible areas in addition to the classrooms.
history
The first day of school on September 17, 2013, celebrated the schoolchildren as well as the founding school director Susanne Asam and the founding college. The official inauguration took place on January 9, 2014 in the presence of the Minister of Education Ludwig Spaenle and the outgoing Mayor Christian Ude , who opened the first grammar school in his twenty-one year term as mayor .
The school has space for around 1000 students. In the first school year (2013/14) it was attended by around 560 pupils from the fifth to eighth grade. In the following school year the student body grew to around 680.
The founding college comprised 40 teachers, in the second school year the number rose to 50, in the third to 61.
At the end of June 2016, a fire that broke out as a car fire in the underground car park resulted in such serious damage to the supply lines that the school had to stop running until the end of the school year; it took place provisionally at three other school locations during this time.
Language sequence
The school offers both science and technology as well as language training. A special feature of the language selection is that there are four foreign languages to choose from: Latin, English, French and Spanish. A maximum of three of these four foreign languages can be chosen and at least two must be attended. English is the compulsory first foreign language. Only Latin or French can be chosen as the second foreign language.
Furnishing
The grammar school was planned and built as a four-class school. As a special feature, the concept of “open learning landscapes” according to Rainer Schweppe has been implemented. Five so-called learning islands were created on the 2nd floor, which include four classrooms and a team room, the so-called island area. In the island area there are additional workplaces that can be used by the students in self-organized learning, i. This means that the students can leave the classroom and move freely in “their” island area.
