The Max-Planck-Gymnasium (abbreviated "MPG" ) is a scientific and technological school in Munich district Pasing . The school is a grammar school with a study seminar .
history
The Progymnasium in Pasing, which opened in 1910, was the nucleus for the humanistic grammar school and the associated secondary school, from which, after the Second World War, first the upper secondary school and then the mathematically and scientifically oriented Max Planck grammar school, as well as today's Karlsgymnasium München-Pasing emerged .
The school was re-established in 1945 after the end of the Second World War under the name Oberschule für Jungs Pasing and was initially housed in the school building of the Humanist Gymnasium Pasing , which had been in use since 1935 and was still called the "German" Oberschule für Jungs München from 1938 until the end of the war .
In the course of the renaming of the higher education institutions, the school was named Oberrealschule Pasing in 1946 . In February 1947, with retroactive effect to October 1, 1946, the six humanistic grammar school classes founded in 1942, formally belonging to the Theresien-Gymnasium and until then run as part of the Oberrealschule, were combined to form the independent humanistic grammar school Pasing , today's Karlsgymnasium Munich . In 1947, three grades were moved to the Fürstenfeldbruck branch . In September 1951 the new extension with eight classrooms was put into operation. In 1952, the building on Schererplatz was assigned to the Catholic elementary school and the visiting humanistic grammar school, and the upper secondary school was relocated to the old building on the Stadtpark , where the Pasing humanistic grammar school was located until 1935 before it was moved to Schererstrasse. At the end of 1956, the Fürstenfeldbruck branch became the independent Fürstenfeldbruck secondary school . Because of the permanent shortage of space, school lessons have been in shifts since 1945, and even in three shifts until 1951. In 1963, the new building in Weinbergerstrasse was put into operation.
In 1965, the Oberrealschule became a mathematical and natural science grammar school and on December 7, 1965 was given the current name of Max Planck grammar school . The grammar school suffered permanently from lack of space and after a nine-year break in 1971 shift lessons had to be reintroduced for some time. The newly built pavilions were completed in 1979 and now house 12 classes or courses. From this year girls were also accepted into the school.
Due to the increased number of afternoon classes in connection with the introduction of the G8, a school canteen was opened in 2007 to cater for the pupils, which is located south of the school building next to the school yard.
The school building is in need of renovation. Headmaster Scharl said in 2014 about the state of construction of the temporary pavilions built in 1979: "These barracks should be demolished."
In the meantime, several building containers have been placed in the backyard as a temporary replacement for the pavilion (August 2016).
