The municipal Adolf-Weber-Gymnasium (short: AWG ) is a grammar school in the Munich district of Neuhausen-Nymphenburg . In addition to an eight-year course (shortened course - G8 ), it also offers an all-day class and specializes in the integration of blind and visually impaired students. In addition, the school has three language preparation classes (SVK), which introduce foreign children to the language and then try to integrate them into “normal” classes.

history

On April 17, 1942, the upper economic school branch (WOR) was founded at the municipal business school. In 1944 the school building was bombed and school operations had to be temporarily suspended. From February 21, 1946, girls were allowed to attend school for the first time, and from September 18, 1956, the unrestricted higher education entrance qualification was recognized. In 1963 the school was named after the German economist Adolf Weber and moved to the new school building in Kapschstrasse in January 1965. Before that, the school was housed in the primary school building on Schwanthalerstraße. In 1979/1980 blind and non-blind students were taught together for the first time, and Latin was introduced as a second foreign language. In the 2002/2003 school year, a group of pupils were trained as mediators . In 2006/2007, the subject of business informatics was introduced as a subject.

classes

From the 8th grade onwards, economics and law are taught as the main subject at the AWG . In addition, the students receive lessons in business informatics. As part of the two-week internship in the 9th grade, the students learn how to formulate letters of application and how to prepare a multi-page report on the various areas of activity during the internship.

Since the 2014/2015 school year, the school has also been offering a linguistic branch with Spanish from year 8 upwards.

Integration of disabled students

At the AWG, blind, visually and physically handicapped students are integrated into normal lessons. A separate secretariat is available for the blind and visually impaired students to prepare the required materials. The school building of the Adolf-Weber-Gymnasium is designed to be handicapped accessible.

Introductory class

A special feature of the Adolf-Weber-Gymnasium is the introductory class , which offers pupils with a secondary school leaving certificate (“Mittlere Reife”) the opportunity to obtain the Abitur. A prerequisite for the transfer is an expert opinion from the school management of the Realschule, which the student has previously attended and which certifies that he is suitable for attending an introductory class. The issuance of this report is not tied to a specific grade average in the secondary school; however, the school expects good and satisfactory grades in the core subjects as a prerequisite. The final registration takes place as soon as the students have received their diploma.

The introductory class corresponds to a tenth grade, but differs in the timetable from the usual 10th grade. The main goal this year is to learn French as a second foreign language in eight hours a week.

You also have six hours of mathematics, six hours of English, four hours of German, two hours of physics, four hours of economics / accounting and two hours of sports. There is a trial period up to the first half of the year, which can exceptionally be extended to the Whitsun holidays. After successfully completing the transition class, a normal 11th class follows, usually with an additional French hour.

Pupils who have never had French as a compulsory subject before the introductory class have to take the language up to the twelfth grade and incorporate it into their Abitur in semesters 12/1 and 12/2.

GLOBE program

The AWG is one of around 450 German schools participating in the GLOBE ( Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment ) program.

Partner schools

The AWG maintains good contacts with its partner schools in China ( Hangzhou ), England ( London ), France ( Lyon ), Italy ( Rome ), South Africa (Cape Town) and the USA ( Chicago ) with annual exchange programs.

social commitment

At the AWG there is an annual Christmas bazaar for the benefit of annually changing social projects around the world. Since the 2012/2013 school year, the AWG has also been involved in the nationwide campaign “School against Racism” under the patronage of Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger .
