The Small Private Teaching Institute Derksen is a private , state-approved high school in Munich - Großhadern .
history
Because Dieter Derksen and his wife Barberina saw the school lessons at the time as in need of improvement, they started teaching some children privately in their living room from the mid-1950s. It quickly became more and more and soon there was not enough space in the living room. In September 1959, they therefore founded the small private teaching institute Derksen , initially as a state-approved private high school. State recognition took place ten years later.
In 1984 Dieter Derksen died and from now on the management level consisted of three people: Barberina Derksen took over the pedagogical management, Richard Ruland the school management and Jan Derksen, his eldest son, the management.
In 1989 the new school building at Pfingstrosenstrasse 73 in Munich-Großhadern, designed by the Zurich architect Justus Dahinden , was ready to move into.
After Richard Ruland's death in December 1994, the school management was transferred to Klaus Wenzel, who had been a teacher at the school since 1975. After his retirement in the summer of 2008, Carmen Mendez held the office of headmistress. In the summer of 2013, Hans-Joachim Bötel took over the management of the school and held the position until July 2017.
School board
The school is run by the Kleines private Lehrinstitut Derksen gGmbH .
costs
The school fee for the 2019/10 school year is 690 euros per month for each student. In addition, the school asks for a donation of 2,000 EUR to a foundation of the school when a student is accepted. A partial or complete waiver of school fees is possible under certain conditions.
classes
The school was originally a purely modern language grammar school (with a humanistic branch ). With the introduction of the G 8 in Bavaria (school year 2003/2004) the natural science and technology branch was added. The first foreign language is always English , the second Latin or French . If you choose French as your second foreign language, you are automatically in the scientific and technological branch. Since the small private teaching institute Derksen does not yet have its own sports hall (in planning), sports lessons are temporarily held in neighboring schools. The maximum class size is 22 students.
exchange
The school has the following partnerships:
- Moscow , exchange with every 8th grade
- Dieppe , exchange with the modern language branch of the 9th grade
- Reading , sharing with 11th grade
- Tianjin , inter-grade exchange
In preparation for the exchange programs with Russia and China, elective courses are offered in Russian and Chinese. The maximum class size can thus increase due to guest students.
School camp
The school has its own school camp in Thiersee , west of Kufstein , the Schröckerbichlhof . Each class stays there for almost a week every year, the 5th class twice. The 7th grade winter sports week also takes place there.
Handicapped accessible
Another special feature of the school is that it also accepts students with mental or physical disabilities , provided that they can meet the mental requirements of the grammar school. Participants in the voluntary social year or the federal voluntary service are available to support disabled students . The school also has four special tutors for pupils with disabilities and one specialist trained in social education.
