Location and history

The Städtische Theodolinden-Gymnasium (TLG) is a high school in Munich - Harlaching . It has been named after the Bavarian Duchess and Queen of the Lombards Theodolinde since 1960. It emerged from the former Städtisches Mädchen Realgymnasium , which was founded in 1939 after the girls' school , which has been run by the poor school sisters of our dear women since 1843 ( Angerkloster) had to gradually cease service under pressure from the National Socialist leadership since 1936. In 1956 the school moved into the building on the perennial garden, which is still in use today. Since 1977, the secondary school, which was previously reserved for girls only, has been run co-educationally . Since 1999 the Thedolinden-Gymnasium has been a partner school for competitive sports with one sports class per year.

The school buildings are located on a spacious area, on which the elementary school on Rotbuchenstraße is also located. The building was built in 1935/36 as a school for the housing developments that were built at the same time on Grünwalder and Naupliastraße and named after the National Socialist Minister of Education, Hans Schemm , who died in 1935 . After the war , the undestroyed buildings were requisitioned by the Americans and only returned to the city in 1956. In 2008 the school got its own canteen. The new sports hall was completed in 2015.
