The small town belonged to the Habsburg office of Richensee until 1415, then came to the city of Lucerne and from 1425 to 1798 to the free offices . It was then part of the canton of Baden until 1803 . Since then, it has belonged to Lucerne again, namely to the newly created Hochdorf Office .
