history

The place was already inhabited in Roman times. It later belonged to the Counts of Lenzburg , who donated it to the Beromünster Canons. Armense is mentioned for the first time in 1036, in the deed of donation from Count Ulrich I von Lenzburg to the Canon Monastery . The Counts of Kyburg built a castle around 1227, which after it died out fell to the Habsburgs . The fortress, which the Lords of Lieli were in charge of, was destroyed by the Confederates in 1386. Until 1415 the Habsburgs still exercised nominal rule and Ermensee belonged to the Richensee office. The village then came under the rule of the city of Lucerne and was administered as part of the Michelsamt by the Canons' Monastery of Beromünster until 1798 . The village was sacked by the Bernese in 1712 during the Second Villmerger War. French troops were stationed in Ermensee from 1798 to 1803. From 1798 to 1801 it belonged to the Münster district, in 1801 it belonged to the newly founded canton of Baden - but was back to Lucerne in 1803. Since then it has been part of the then newly created Hochdorf Office .
